Alvin and Xiao Bao

During my enjoyable homecoming trip, I met 2 long lost old friends - Xiao Bao and Alvin.

Xiao Bao was the little kid who lived across the house we rented before. He was 13 yr-old that time. He is 25 and a father now. I met Xiao Bao the 2nd night before I left. Thanks to Wher Lo's connection. We all were surprised to see him (a grown up man now).

Alvin was the St Paul dude who rented the room from Xiao Bao's parents in Seremban. Alvin managed to meet up at my place the last night before I left for Taiwan. By the way, congratulations to Alvin with his new house and his wedding.

Ever since we graduated high school in 1993, we left Seremban. That was when we lost contact. Without good communication technology and lazy to write letters back then, people can really lost contact easily for years.

The thing that really makes me feel good is the friendship we built. As you will see many 后记 update about the old friends :).

Asia Trip, last night in KL

The trip in Asia was wonderful. Being able to see family and relatives and friends is priceless. What I have learned from this trip: Tough life, there are many people in tougher life than us, we should cherish what we have. I've already known about this for sometimes, but I seriously feel it this time. Especially for the people in the US, they are really in good life environment.

The last night in KL, can not forget. The mood is down enough when thinking of leaving. David and Ah Sui came by to make sure I am still alive :P. Alvin, the first meet since 93 and it was the last time for him as well.

Taking group picture...

And started to act like kids...

So long my friends, take care...

Beyond

I was playing this song last night along with Beyond Live 2003 concert. I thought about my college buddy - PNW. We took this music class that time and our group performance, we played this song in unplugged version, 不再犹豫, but it was not favored by the music instructor and we both failed the class. Hahahahaha......

Today, PNW is already a father of 1 son. Time flies until we started to feel scare when aged :P.

So, just like the song: 不再犹豫. When you have the dream, focus, and do it!

Here is the chord reference:
G D Em Bm C Am D x2
Em D x2
Chorus: G D Em Bm C Am D x2
Repeat

Beyond

命运是你家, this is the song that I like from one rock band in HK - Beyond. I think Gen Y nowadays might not know who they are or might think "wa.. this is old.". Yet I still like it regardless.

I always wish that one day I can play this song with my college buddy (PAND) again with 2 guitars (now I am playing 2 guitar parts by myself).

For those who like about the song, here you go:
G A7
Em Em/C# Em/D Em/C
Em Em/C# Em/D Em/C
Em C D7 G

Repeat *

Melaka Trip, Knocking on Heaven's door

During my trip back home, I went to Melaka, a state located about 2 hours south of Kuala Lumpur. I think my last visit was back in 96. Overall Melaka doesn't change much but with few more taller buildings and more traffic.
Went to St Paul Church and pay my respect to the missionary back in the 18th century. Near the church, there was one guy playing guitar, he was singing "... knock, knock, knocking on Heaven's door...". He didn't sing too well, but he played good guitar. I felt like going back to my college time playing guitar with friends again. In fact, it was the right song to play at that place...
For my friends who are interested in this song, you can find out from internet, Keyword Guns and Roses, Knocking on Heaven's door.

Simple guitar chord ref:
Intro G D C
G D Am
G D C
*
(* repeat)
Chorus: G D C few times

Taiwan Trip last week

The last time I went to Taiwan was back in 1990. 15 years just went by like shooting stars.

Scooter in Taiwan is something I remember in my mind (no need to shift gear those type of small bikes) ... so when I saw many scooters on the streets, I have the feeling back in 15 years ago.

Touring in Taipei City is very convenience now. LRT system can reach most of the places. The last time I was there, city was a mess with all the LRT construction.

Went to one restaurant that owned by Chou Hwa Jian (the singer) - Wakin's Kitchen (Yue Hwa Lou). Good food :)

Taipei Kang Yong Street for some local snack at 3pm with cousin.

Went to Taipei 101. Went to viewing floor on 89 floor, NTD350 per person. If to view from outside on 91th floor, add another NTD100. I have the great impression about the fast elevator (it is said to be the faster elevator in the world so far). It takes less than 40 sec to reach 89th floor.

President Chiang Memorial Hall.

Went to Xi Men Ding (West Door) with cousin. Crowded~~~ and I found that I am no longer the younger group any more :P

I have quite some relatives there. I have not seen most of them for the past 15 years. Some cousins (under age 15) had not really met the big cousin in person before as well. Anyway, I was pretty much fully "booked" by all uncles and aunties and cousins for meal gathering until the last dinner before I took off. After the 6 weeks, I gained 8lbs!!!

Besides the Green and Blue parties politic/government topics, Taiwan is a nice place to go for.

Back in the US

Good time always ends fast. My 6 weeks vacation came to the end. I still remember the first few days after I arrived KL, Tokie mentioned that "... still many days to go by, we will still meet...", yet at a glance, I am back in US already.
Many things done and some still undone... I think I need more time back home again :).

To some friends that I still missed to see during the time there, we will meet next time.

Thank you my friends, it was great to meet (to talk to) you there.

TC going back soon...

I am leaving for Taiwan tomorrow(to visit grandma), and return to SFO 5 days later. My long vacation comes to the end now. Too fast, good time doesn't last long. I know, it will take me a long long time to recover :). It will be sometimes later again to return to Asia to see all my family, relatives, and friends again. Take good care all...

Good Old Friends

Not all friends can stick together forever. Yet some friends on the other hand are forever. With my own experience and the good people around me, I believe this is true. After years of away from home (home country), I came back to the home land this time, met many people. Among the people I met, old school friends are the most wonderful people.

We talked about old time memory and history, talked about everything that happened back then, how nice. After that, we moved back to the current life and strive for excellence. This is life.

History is something for us to remember. We remember it, cherish it, take it as learning tools and make the future for better.

Once upon a time in Lobak, Seremban, there were 7 young men from all over the places in Malaysia stayed under one roof. They were called "Lobak 7 da cai zi" aka "The 7 Big" hahaha...

"The 7 Big" gathering during my return, 2 brothers were not able to attend (in UK).
